Oakland County Recent Arrest Windows
Start with the CLEMIS Inmate Locator, the county's official corrections tool. It sits behind a challenge screen rather than working like a static sheriff blotter. Complete the challenge, pick Oakland County Jail, and choose a custody view. One list shows people currently in county custody. Another covers anyone jailed or released in the last 72 hours. Neither one captures every arrest made by every Oakland County agency.
A city arrest can end several ways. The person may get a citation. They might sit briefly in a city lockup. They might also be transferred, or go free before county intake. Events like that may never become a CLEMIS row. The county also warns that inmate data can lag by up to 72 hours. A missing name does not disprove an arrest. For same-day gaps, the Daily Arrest Report helps. The Weekly Arrest Log explains the wider blotter and archive routes.
| View | Custody slice | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Current inmates | Oakland County Jail custody | Data may lag intake or release |
| Incarcerated within 72 hours | Recent county intake | Not every arrest reaches the jail |
| Released within 72 hours | Recent county release | Release is not a case result |
| Records and courts | Older or agency-held files | A written request may be needed |
Oakland County Booking Timing
An arrest and its public listing are separate moments. The Oakland County Jail runs a dedicated intake area. Booking there means staff confirm identity, log the alleged offenses, run fingerprints through Livescan, open a jail file, and may take a booking photograph. OCSO counted 12,247 prisoner admissions through Corrective Services in 2024. That figure counts admissions, not unique people. It is not a live arrest total either.
The public application refreshes its HTML every five minutes, yet OCSO allows data to lag by up to 72 hours. A refresh only reloads what the server exposes. It cannot prove a booking finished or a release synced. For urgent custody questions, call inmate information at 248-858-1800. The VINELink Inmate Check covers release and transfer alerts for a known person. The official CLEMIS entry screen is the gateway shown before Oakland County Jail can be selected.
The official CLEMIS entry screen is the gateway itself. It shows the form and challenge, not any person or booking photo gallery. Note: Interface refresh and booking-data freshness are different measures, so verify urgent Oakland County custody facts by phone.
Oakland County Jail Roster
Select Oakland County Jail first. Then pick the current or last-72-hour view. Search by full name where supported, and open the detail screen if one is offered. Before trusting a row, match date of birth, booking or inmate ID, booking date, and facility, since a shared name alone proves little.
| Field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Full name | Starting point, followed by stronger identifiers |
| Inmate or booking ID | Strongest locator key when displayed |
| Booking date | Jail intake, which may differ from arrest time |
| DOB and sex | Identity checks only when shown |
| Facility | Jail location, not city of arrest |
| Charges, bond, holds | Changeable booking data; confirm in court |
| Photo | May appear, but is not promised |
Use the roster in a careful sequence:
- Complete the CLEMIS challenge and select Oakland County Jail.
- Choose current, incarcerated within 72 hours, or released within 72 hours.
- Match more than the name and save the inmate ID when available.
- Confirm current custody at 248-858-1800 or ask the court about bond.
- Use OCSO Records after a public entry rolls off.
Not every detail view looks the same. A record may show a photo. It may also list charges, bond, court data, holds, and an estimated release field. Treat each field as possible rather than guaranteed. A photo can be missing for many reasons, from record status to a legal limit. When an entry vanishes online, the official jail file still exists.
Oakland Sheriff App Alerts
The Oakland County Sheriff's Mobile App bundles inmate and offender information, plus Most Wanted material. It also carries anonymous tips, community resources, road notices, and urgent alerts. Official listings exist for iOS and Android. It does not promise a separate or faster booking-photo feed. CLEMIS stays the county custody source. MI-VINE handles release, transfer, and escape alerts. OCSO social channels also post major arrests and public warnings. Those posts are selective, not a ledger. One can be delayed, edited, or withheld during an investigation. For record questions, turn to the roster, the Records Unit, or the courts.
Oakland Official and Secondary Sources
Each official source covers one stage. CLEMIS handles county jail custody. Police records units hold the incident material their own agency created, while MiCOURT and Oakland Court Explorer track a filed case and MDOC OTIS applies once state corrections jurisdiction begins. Private pages and news stories sit a step behind and may omit the later outcome.
| Channel | Photo? | Status and use |
|---|---|---|
| CLEMIS | When shown | Official current and recent jail custody |
| OCSO Most Wanted | Yes | Official selective fugitive alerts |
| Agency records | When releasable | Official incident and jail files |
| MiCOURT/Court Explorer | Usually no | Official filed case path |
| Local news | Case by case | Independent selected reports |
| Private county pages | Often | Unofficial discovery only |
Several private sites republish Oakland County arrest material. RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, Mugshots.com, and the old Oakland County Busts page all do this. None of them belongs to the sheriff's office. BustedNewspaper and Mugshots.zone list no Oakland section at all. For local coverage, the Oakland County Times, WXYZ, WDIV, CBS Detroit, and WHMI report on individual arrests rather than a full jail roster; the unofficial RecentlyBooked Oakland County page shows how these private outlets present booking data once official channels release it.
Treat that page as landscape only. Confirm every name, date, charge, and outcome through CLEMIS, the arresting agency, and the court.
Oakland County Arrests by City
The arresting agency sets the path. Troy police post a selective weekly Daily Media Report but no routine mugshot gallery, and Farmington Hills Police publishes no regular arrest feed despite a clear FOIA channel. Pontiac buys police service from OCSO. There, county sheriff systems sit at the center.
- Troy Recent Arrests: check Troy Police reporting, then CLEMIS after county transfer.
- Farmington Hills Recent Arrests: use city police records and CLEMIS for county bookings.
- Pontiac Recent Arrests: use the OCSO Pontiac Division, CLEMIS, and OCSO Records.
CLEMIS can miss a brief city hold. Confirm any Oakland County arrest by matching agency reports and bookings against date, identity, and case number, since the jail record alone does not show where the arrest happened.
Oakland Booking Record Fields
A booking record captures jail intake. It does not track the outcome of a case. Oakland's corrections technology links booking, Livescan fingerprints, mugshot functions, bonding, release, and VINE notifications. The public view may expose only part of the file. The retained jail record can hold more, open to request under Michigan FOIA.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name and ID | Recorded identity, subject to verification |
| Booking date | County intake, not always arrest time |
| Booked charges | Alleged offenses, not guilt findings |
| Bond | Recorded terms that may change |
| Hold or detainer | Custody restraint, not a conviction |
| Photo | Intake image when displayed or released |
| Case number | Link to the later court docket |
| Release | Custody event, not case outcome |
- Booking
- Jail intake after arrest or transfer.
- Arraignment
- First court stage for charges and bond.
- Bond
- Terms for release while a case is pending.
- Disposition
- The recorded court outcome.
- Detainer
- A hold tied to another authority.
- Expungement
- A court process to set aside an eligible conviction.
Oakland Arrest Bond and Release
Oakland County runs its bonding desk 24/7. Regular, surety, interim, and fines-and-costs bonds are all processed under the applicable order. Any cash bond of $10,000 or more goes through the court of jurisdiction, and OCSO accepts cash, credit card, cashier's check payable to OCSO, or a bail bondsman where permitted. A LEIN check comes first. The jail screens for holds, warrants, or detainers. With nothing blocking, OCSO says release can land as close to 12:01 a.m. as possible. That timing is not promised, since workload, transport, identity review, or a new order can move it. Ask the court about bond directly, because a roster can lag behind a new order. Can a released person still have a case? Yes. Release speaks to custody only; the court docket shows whether charges were filed and how they ended.
Oakland Mugshots and Booking Photos
Oakland County posts no official mugshot gallery of its own. CLEMIS is the public place to look. An image appears there attached to a custody record, when one is shown. OCSO confirms mugshot functionality. It promises neither a booking photo for every person nor permanent display. An intake photo never proves identity alone. Someone may be serving a state sentence. For those cases, Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS may show an offender photo. OTIS is not the county roster. It covers MDOC jurisdiction only, with its own display limits. Older MDOC records may need a department request. The official MDOC OTIS page shows the state search route used beyond county custody.
OTIS is not CLEMIS. A state listing there does not mean a recent Oakland arrestee entered state prison. When no public image appears, ask OCSO Records for a bounded "booking record and booking photograph." Include full name, DOB, and the approximate date. Add the inmate number. Ask whether OCSO maintains the record. Find out what format exists, and whether redaction or an exemption applies. No fixed photo fee or turnaround guarantee is published.
Oakland OCSO Records Request
The OCSO Records Unit sits at 1201 N Telegraph Road, Pontiac, MI 48341, on the Main Jail's east side. Call 248-858-5011, fax 248-858-1012, or email ocsorecords@oakgov.com. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Arrive thirty minutes before close. The unit keeps inmate files and incident reports.
- Name the booking card, jail file, charges, release data, and photograph sought.
- Give full name, DOB, date range, and inmate or case number.
- Send a written request through the county FOIA route.
- Ask for an itemized estimate and separable nonexempt parts.
- Keep the response and use the stated appeal process after a denial.
Michigan FOIA generally demands a response within five business days. An extension up to ten business days is allowed. Oakland discusses a deposit when an estimate tops $50. A first-$20 waiver applies for a qualifying indigent requester. A response can grant, deny, partly grant, or estimate the work.
| OCSO item | Published amount |
|---|---|
| In-person incident/accident report | $7 cash |
| OCSO arrest or jail history letter | $5 |
| Proof-of-incarceration letter | No charge |
| Booking photograph | No fixed fee; request estimate |
Michigan Arrest Photo Law
MCL 15.231 opens Michigan FOIA with a public-record presumption. MCL 15.243 then supplies the exemptions. Those can cover privacy, investigative interference, confidential sources, techniques, safety, and custodial security. Denials should be explained. An agency should separate releasable material where reasonable. Juvenile and other protected matters may be absent, so an empty public result does not prove no record exists.
Michigan State Police SNAP policy leans on originating-agency approval and case-specific rules unless FOIA requires release. Michigan has no anti-pay-to-remove law. Do not count on a guaranteed web takedown. Paying a private party never changes an official record. The official MCL 15.243 page supplies the exemption text.
The statute applies request by request. It makes neither every arrest file public nor every booking photo exempt.
Correcting Oakland Arrest Information
Take any error to the office that made the record. For CLEMIS or jail files, hand OCSO Records the exact name, DOB, and booking identifier. Include the URL and the disputed fact. A police-report error belongs with the arresting department. A court-file error goes to the clerk or an attorney. Correction is not erasure of a valid historic booking.
Michigan's set-aside relief targets eligible convictions, not every arrest. The Attorney General describes a petition filed in the convicting court. Notice must go to Michigan State Police, the prosecutor, and required offices. Eligibility and waiting periods turn on current law and the full history. A granted order does not instantly change every private page or cache.
Start with the free official routes. Both RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com claim some free, policy-based record maintenance on their sites. Their current rules deserve a direct check. Arrests.org lists no clear Oakland opt-out. Never pay an unknown party for a mere deletion promise. Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool can refresh a stale result after a source changes. It cannot remove a live page. The Michigan Attorney General expungement page outlines official assistance. It should be checked before relying on a private host's removal promise.
Oakland Arrest Warrants and Wanted List
Oakland County keeps no name-based warrant search anyone can run from home. CLEMIS tracks who is in custody, but a blank result there proves nothing about warrants. The safer path is MiCOURT plus Oakland Court Explorer. Then call the court that issued the warrant. OCSO dispatch answers at 248-858-4950, and Records sits at 248-858-5011. Anyone named on a warrant should work through an attorney or the court itself. Do not guess.
The OCSO Most Wanted page is a curated highlight, not the full warrant file. It rotates roughly eight entries at a time. Each entry carries a photo, a description, a last known location, and a suspected offense. Some carry armed-risk warnings. Do not approach or follow anyone listed. Tips go to 1-888-TURN-1-IN or 1-800-773-2587, and any immediate danger means 911.
After an Oakland County Arrest
Booking is only the first chapter of an Oakland County case. At arraignment the court takes up the filed charges and sets bond. A felony may move through district-court stages on its way to Oakland's Sixth Circuit Court. Misdemeanors often stay put in district court. Prosecutors hold real power here. They can decline, amend, reduce, or add counts as a case develops. A jail roster entry alone tells you none of that.
For tracking, MiCOURT is the statewide starting point. Oakland Court Explorer opens the county's own case files. Search by case number whenever you have one. MiCOURT blocks protected case categories and hides some criminal matters under a seven-year sentencing rule. Older or certified records live with the clerk. The Oakland Court Explorer search carries the trail from booking all the way to court.
A docket search separates three things people blur together: the arrest itself, the charges actually filed, and the final disposition. The pipeline runs from arrest to booking and a possible photo, onto the roster, then to arraignment, the case, and disposition. Each step answers a different question.
Oakland Arrest Counts Need Context
These local counts each measure a different job. Oakland logged 12,247 prisoner admissions in 2024, while OCSO Records processed 12,228 inmate files that same year, and Pontiac Patrol Services reported 4,985 arrests in 2023. The numbers cannot be stacked into one total or read as unique county arrestees.
The jail counts a 109-person intake area, a second floor of about 440, and a 487-person attached annex. The East Annex sits closed and holds no inmates. None of that capacity equals today's population or the records CLEMIS should return.
Arrests Beyond Oakland County Custody
Once custody moves out of the county, the lookup tool has to change too. MDOC OTIS covers people under Michigan corrections jurisdiction. The BOP locator handles federal prison custody. It shows no county-style booking photos. ICE lists certain current or recently released immigration detainees when you have exact identity fields. A detainer alone says nothing about federal acceptance or how a federal case ends. Nothing here beats CLEMIS for fresh county bookings. An empty CLEMIS screen can still mean a city release, federal custody, another county, or plain data lag. When it matters, lean on the responsible agency, the court, or counsel.
Note: A transfer, a detainer, a jail release, and a court disposition are four separate events. Treating them as synonyms leads people astray.
